ZAR Cares: Affecting Change in Texas Cannabis Legislation

From the moment of ZAR’s inception, we’ve existed to bring powerful healing to those that need it most in the form of cannatherapy. We cater to the members of our community who are struggling with their healing journey, even when they might think they’ve tried everything. We do this because we believe in the strength of cannatherapy, and we believe it because we’ve see. It’s influence. Now, to allow cannatherapy to reach more people, we at ZAR have partnered with Pharmacology University to take action and enact our mission to the fullest extent. Together, we have assisted in drafting the Tim Timmons Compassionate Care Act; a proposal positioned to revolutionize Texas cannabis legislation in 2023.

Access to Medicinal Cannabis in Texas

We make cannatherapy an option for our community members in need, as has always been our goal, without them risking arrest or prosecution. This proposal expands accessibility to those with debilitating medical conditions such as cancer, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, Alzheimer’s, and many more conditions as described in section 3 of the act. This portion of the act also imparts further protections for caretakers and decriminalizes care. The construction of a state-kept registry will allow an agreeable middle ground between state legislature and the medicinal cannabis industry, offering registered access to allow this care to those in most need of it.

Equal Opportunity for Medicinal Cannabis in Texas

An equal opportunity market is one that makes room for all of those who wish to enter into the space. The Tim Timmons Compassionate Care Act contains clauses that were crafted to guarantee diversity in the space and help bring cannatherapy to those members of disproportionately impacted geographic areas. Thus, the development of a social opportunity program can distribute this opportunity to areas that are otherwise underprivileged by reducing the barriers to entry. This comes in the form of (and is not limited to) financial assistance as well as unique benefits for those with limited resources available to them.

Furthering Cannabis Research in Texas

We know a great deal about cannabis and its benefits, but just as we knew that washing our hands was good for our health long before we knew what germs were, there is still a great deal of goodness to uncover. As we can gather an even greater understanding of the vast variety of cannabinoids and their properties, we can better tailor cannatherapy plans to individualized care. This act serves to establish rules for medical cannabis research programs in Texas, allowing individuals and businesses the opportunity to perform licensed cannabis research.

Establishing A Medicinal Cannabis Licensing Process in Texas

We want to establish a system that is mutually beneficial between cannabis-centered businesses, the government, and most importantly the people. This act details exactly how we can do that in a way that’s respectful of human dignity, morality, and diversity.
