World Day of Baking: Magic Brownies with THC-A

In honor of World Baking Day, we're thrilled to share a unique and delightful recipe that combines the art of baking with the benefits of cannabis. These cannabutter brownies, made with ZAR Spark THC-A flower, are the perfect way to celebrate this special day. THC-A (tetrahydrocannabinolic acid) is the non-psychoactive precursor to THC, and when heated, it transforms into the beloved psychoactive compound, making these brownies both delicious and enjoyable.

Ingredients:

For the Cannabutter:

• 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
• 7-10 grams ZAR Spark THC-A flower, finely ground

For the Brownies:

• 1 cup cannabutter (prepared as below)
• 1 cup granulated sugar
• 1 cup brown sugar, packed

• 4 large eggs
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1 cup all-purpose flour
• 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
• 1 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Preparing the thc-a cannabutter

Decarboxylation: Decarbing THC-A flower is necessary to convert the non-psychoactive THC-A into psychoactive THC, ensuring the desired effects in your cannabutter.

• Preheat your oven to 220°F (105°C).
• Spread the ground THC-A flower evenly on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
• Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-45 minutes, stirring occasionally to ensure even heating. This process converts THC-A into THC.

Infusing the Butter:

• In a medium saucepan, melt the butter on low heat.
• Once melted, add the decarboxylated THC-A flower to the butter.
• Simmer on low heat for 2-3 hours, stirring occasionally. Ensure the mixture does not come to a boil.​​
• Strain the mixture through a cheesecloth or fine mesh strainer into a bowl, removing the plant material.
• Let the cannabutter cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until solid.

Prepare the Batter:

• Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
• In a large mixing bowl, combine the cannabutter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Beat until smooth.
• Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
• In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder.
• Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips, if using.

Bake the Brownies:

• Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly.
• Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
• Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before cutting into squares.
